80th
Birthday Challenge
Did you know that this is the 80th year of Guiding in Newfoundland and Labrador?
You must include five of the
following in your Party:
1)
Plan and prepare a nutritious snack to be served at the party.
2)
Invite another Unit to your party.
3)
Play an active game.
4)
Sing “Happy Birthday” in another language.
5)
Participate in birthday customs from another country.
6)
Learn a traditional Newfoundland & Labrador dance.
7)
Have a Guiding fashion show.
8)
Play Kim’s game.
9)
Invite a woman (not your regular Guider) who has been in Guiding for
over 15 years to your party and share one of her guiding experiences.
10)
Do a traditional Newfoundland &
Labrador craft.
11)
Bake a birthday cake or
cupcakes and decorate it/them.
12)
Play a game that someone from
another generation played at a birthday party.
13)
Create a costume from recycled
materials to wear to the party.
14)
Create a party invitation.
15)
Create an icebreaking activity
to help your guests get to know each other.
16)
Re-enact the first Guiding
meeting in Newfoundland and Labrador.
17)
Create a performance about
Guiding in the 1920’s in Newfoundland & Labrador.
18)
Make a time capsule of your
Guiding life.
19)
Create a mural of your Unit’s
Guiding activities.
20)
Make thank you notes for your
guests.
21)
Wrap a gift for a senior
citizen.
22)
Bring a gift for your patrol
box (ie. scissors, glue).
23)
Decorate loot bags for girls in
a younger Unit.
24)
Bring something old and tell
the rest of the group about it.
25)
Ask a senior citizen to share
stories about growing up long ago.
26)
Sing three action songs from
any Girl Guide songbook.
27)
Record your 80th
birthday celebrations using photos, video or audiocassette.
28)
Participate in any other birthday party activity approved by your Unit.

your unit’s party, and 50¢ per crest
to The Guide Shop.
