Water for Tomorrow
    Water for Tomorrow

Holly Mom had a great summer - she spent six relaxing weeks at Our Cabana, renewing old friendships.  She even promoted our International Year of Freshwater badge. If you have not already ordered your badges, please do so ASAP. We want to make sure that we fill all our orders.

I just came back from an energizing weekend at the Committee’s Conference - several Holly’s made the trip and had a great reunion. They all love the new outfit Training Holly wore - be sure to look for her at the next conference you attend. (She may even bring out a new line of Holly clothing.)

Some dates to remember for the new year are:

Here are some quick display board ideas:

    1.   Science fair display board with a “Water for Tomorrow” topper.

    2.   A dinosaur or pictures of dinosaurs - there is the same amount of water in the world today as when the dinosaurs roamed.

    3.  100 pennies - 97 salt water, 2- ice caps and glaciers, 1- fresh water.

    4.  Globe to show what pennies mean.

    5.  Any easy experiment ... check past issues of The Bulletin or science books.

    6.  Holly wing stamp or something to have visitors color blue to show that they will not waste water.

    7.   Make fridge water drop magnets to hand out.

    8.   Pop bottles filled with red , blue or green water to show how many liters each person per province uses per day: (for example in Canada 326 (green food coloring), Newfoundland 561 (red), BC 440, NB 414 and Quebec 386.   Blue bottles: PEI 186, Sask 228, Man 249, Alberta 256, Territories 268, NS 269 and Ont 272).

    9.   Anything relating to wise water use or water wastage.

    10.  Have a coloring, poster or poetry contest in your group, school, district, community, etc.  This is a good idea for Pathfinders who are doing the leadership challenge.

A Note of Interest:   The Provincial Adult Independent trip to Sangam February 2006 is still a go!  We will be asking for financial commitment February 2006 (save those pennies!!!).  Nancy has booked 16 seats for us. Pass the word along.

As many of you are aware, I will be slowing down a bit during November - January, so please keep this page handy for 2004.  Holly will try to answer e-mails after October but may be slow in doing so.  If you need more info, please contact Deanna Leclerc, Program Director.
