Make dance a part of your Program.
Dance helps to develop cardiovascular fitness, co-ordination , cooperation and contributes to active living.
Plan to include dance in your ceremonies, for example advancement or enrollment. Try these dances with your units.

POP GOES THE WEASEL
Singing Dance

First and second couples joining hands in a circle dance once round to the left.
Sing - All around the cobbler's bench, the monkey chased the weasel,
Right hands across once round (right hand star).
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun,
Second couple make an arch for the first couple to dance down under to meet a new couple, as second couple dance up.
Pop goes the weasel!
Dance the circle with the new couple.
A penny for a spool of thread, a penny for a needle,
Dance right hands across once round.
That's the way the money goes,
Second couple make an arch for the first couple to dance down under to meet a new couple, as second couple dance up.
Pop goes the weasel!
Repeat
(Note: Every second turn of the dance, the top and bottom couples will be standing still.)

THE HITCHHIKER
Line dance - choreographer unknown
Music - your favourite song. You can adapt the dance to fit the music - for example omit sounding the horn and repeat the thumbing a ride and washing movements.
Right Thumb (twice), Left Thumb (twice) (Motion as if you are hitching a ride)
Right Wash (twice), Left Wash (twice)
(Motion as if you are washing windows)
Roll Right, Center, Left, Center (High)
(Roll hands in a full circular motion, right over left, left over right)
Right Hand Cross, Left Hand Cross,
(From the raised position place right hand in front on left hip, then left hand in front on right hip)
Right Hand on Rear, Left Hand on Rear
(Right hand on right side, left hand on left side)
Both hands sound the horn ("Woo-woo")
(Raise both hands above head, elbows at shoulder level, pull both arms down twice making a truck horn sound)
Jump/Turn Left, Clap.
Start again facing in the new direction.
