Dance in the Guiding Program
Incorporate dance into other aspects of programme in addition to the obvious ones such as the Guide Dancer's badge or the Brownie Share your Talent for Dance. For example:
- In that part of your programme where you might schedule an active game, use dance.
- When the programme asks the girls to learn a song from another country or province, in addition learn a dance for that activity.
- Dancing was an important component of programme in the early days of Guiding, make it a part of your activities when the girls are learning about the history of Guiding.
- Use dance as a filler activity when the girls are finishing up one activity and are waiting for the next part of the meeting to begin. Choose a dance that can accommodate the continual addition of dancers.
- Circle dances can be used as a means to call the girls into a circle. If the girls are already familiar with a circle dance, put that music on as a way of calling them into a circle, let them dance the dance and at the end, the girls will be in a circle, ready for the next part of programme.
- Dance a "mixer" type dance as a district event as a means to get the girls from the different units and branches interacting with each other.
