This bursary was established by BC Council to recognize the contributions of active girl members and to offer financial assistance towards education in a field that will enhance the life of the recipient.
To be eligible for this bursary, the applicant must:
The Book of Honour was created to recognize outstanding BC Guiders and girls who exemplify the spirit of Guiding through keeping the Promise and Law. This bursary is for registered Guiding members completing grade 12 who are planning to attend a public or private post-secondary institution (all fields of study are eligible), and who have shown a commitment to service in their school and community.
The objectives of the Book of Honour were twofold:
All donations made towards a Book of Honour Recipient are deposited into the Book of Honour account. No Guiding Funds are used to support this bursary. In 2021, The Bursary of Honour had its name changed to Book of Honour Bursary to better reflect the fact that contributions to the Book of Honour Award are used to fund this bursary. This Bursary is solely supported by donations from the Book of Honour applications.
The Book of Honour is on display at BC Guide House and an area-specific travelling Book of Honour is available upon request for area events.
This scholarship was established by the family of Elaine Killam in recognition of her many years of service to Guiding. Through all her roles from Brownie leader, local and provincial committees, and as Provincial Commissioner of BC, Elaine was committed to the mission and values of Girl Guides and the difference it makes in girls’ lives.
This scholarship was established by BC Council to recognize the career pursuits of girl members who choose a vocational, trade and/or technical pathway. It allows them funds to be able to continue their education and offers financial assistance towards a field that will enhance the life of the recipients.
This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Eve Pound in recognition of her many years of service to Guiding. Eve was a treasurer for Guiding in several provinces throughout Canada.
This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Margery Dumfries in memory and recognition of her many years of service to Guiding as provincial secretary, provincial Cadet coordinator, member of provincial committees and her untiring involvement in training and local Guiding.
