Camping
offers girls an opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning
an appreciation for the outdoors, and a respect for our environment. The Camping Department is available to provide help and resources to any Guider planning a camp or outdoor activity. They are also responsible for circulating information about inter-provincial camping opportunities for girl and adult members as well as planning and province-wide camps that may be offered. The Camping Department may also work with the Training Department in presenting camp
trainings which will improve the volunteer experience and enhance the
Guiding program.
ConBaSu Hut
Spend some time at the ConBaSu Area Campsite. Join your Guiding sisters around a fire, roasting marshmallow and singing songs. There is a lot of fun to be had!!
ConBaSu, an acronym for Conception Bay South, is a Guiding facility that belongs to ConBaSu Area and is available for use by any Guiding group. This wonderful facility, located in a country setting on Daniel's Road in Seal Cove, is equipped with everything you need to have a fun filled weekend with your girls. It is wheelchair accessible, has 2 sleeping areas, one with 16 sets of bunk beds and another with 6 bunks, 3 washrooms, 2 showers, a main dining area/hall, a kitchen with 2 stoves, 2 large fridges, 2 microwaves, toasters, cooking equipment, dishes, portable campfire stove and an indoor fireplace.
Well back from the road, there is also a large grassy field, ideal for tenting. Groups have to bring their own tents, stoves, lanterns and group cooking equipment. Although there is no electricity, there is well water available at each site and the site has pit toilets. The facility is also available for evening bookings during the week, for functions (i.e. baby showers, Guiding meetings, Trefoil events, etc.).
